OVERVIEW
The Bhutan Culture Company has been formed to implement and oversee the Get Karma Project in the country of Bhutan.
The Bhutan Project will be the first English language dramatic feature film shot entirely on location in the country of Bhutan featuring an all-Bhutanese cast. The crew will be comprised of international filmmakers using standard western style filmmaking techniques and methods working with indigenous crew members chosen for the “on the job training program.” Due to this fusion of resources the story will be authentic to Bhutan’s unique culture and life, but accessible to a global audience.
A nation’s culture, history, and religion are delicately woven into this undertaking, a fact that presents unique challenges and benefits to participants. The film will share with the world community a moving vision of a unique people, landscape and culture at a pivotal time in its history, both as a feudal society emerging into a technological world and as a newly developing Democracy guided by the Kings vision of Gross National Happiness.

PROCESS
The Get Karma Project has integrated Gross National Happiness into the larger commercial venture of filmmaking and integrated marketing. Business budgets and philanthropic budgets are often viewed a separate. Our plan is to connect them to make a successful feature film (doing good business), raise awareness about the Kingdom of Bhutan and give support to the local economy and indigenous film community in Bhutan (doing good). This is a powerful idea that will get the world talking.
The Bhutan Project has integrated the Gross National Happiness Index into the larger commercial venture of filmmaking and integrated marketing. Due to the special nature of this country and the unique Film Project structure, the making of this film alone will generate buzz in the social media sphere. Innovative, integrated targeted PR/Release strategies will help support the organic interest we project for this film, and build momentum both within the traditional film festival/distribution networks and beyond.
